My reflection on Web 2.0 project @ the End of the Semester

My reflection on Web 2.0 project is that it is one of the most useful projects that provided me with many benefits. This project helped me to be familiar with Web 2.0 tools and taught me how to use these tools through trainings that assigned to each of us in this course. Also, it showed me how I can implement it in my life.
The training project was a great practice and lesson that would help us in the future or during our career job. The skills that we implement such as preparing training plan and specifying the outline, time and resources is vital skills that developed and reflect my positive performance during my session.
The MIS course is the coolest course I have learned, because it bright me with usefulness of some tools that is very important and make our life easier such as Google drive, Delisious.com, Google Docs and others. Learning these tools was very exciting and offers us with the opportunity to apply and use tools in my daily routine life. I build this post to write my reflection on web 2.0 tools ranked from upper most preferable tool to least favorite one at the end.
Google Sites
Creating website it has been very hard for me and needs log time to get make one it by using Dream weaver and FrontPage. But when I attend the training of the Google Site, which was done by my other colleagues in the class, I was very shocked; therefore, it was a very simple and easy to create a website by using the Google site tool. I loved creating website by using this tool more than other softwares that I have experienced in designing a website which I mention at the beginning.
Google sites offer me many features and options to edit my pages such as: images, videos, links, docs and attachments in a very easy way.
The most thing that I love in Google site, that I can save my website which includes off files and pictures in safe way through online and I can view of update in any place by sign in by using my Google account and do it in just a click. I have created a site that includes the steps of applying different things in Google site (Note: Click here to view my Google site.).In the future, I will open my own business so I will surely will use Google site to for my business to promote my products and share it with everybody. I also encouraging the current small business people who to use Google site to create for them a website that include full information and products of their business.

Blogs
Blogs is one of my preferred tools which permit me to write my daily dairies as share my posts and experiences with other viewers of my blog.
In blogs, I like to follow others’ blogs and view their new posts which some of them enriched me with nice information.
In the blogs I didn’t like is that in adding gadget the some of them is broken and not working so, the blog creators should search from the internet for  cods that allow him to preview the gadget in HTML gadget.

Gmail
After knowing the Gmail, I use it more than the Hotmail as it has more features; I used it to label some of my e-mails. Also I created a filter to my e-mails and I needed to write the tasks I had to do, so I wrote them in the tasks and it really helped me.

Google Docs
Google Docs allows me as a student to share documents with my classmates.  I can allow them to edit the document or to view it. Google Docs also helped me a lot in work with my group in collaborative projects. We saved time and paper revising and correcting our documents and Power Point presentation together online using this tool. I found the automatic saving feature a clever idea...

Google Chrome
I have downloaded Google Chrome before the trainer asked us to do so. After using Google chrome, I found it as an effective solution to my problem of slow system. Through using Google chrome browser, I realized the high speed of it. As a result, I make Google chrome my default or main browser instead of the Internet Explorer and I always use it for research purposes to complete my projects. Moreover, I like the option called “Chrome Web Store” a lot because it enables me to add different things to my chrome like Business tools, Games, Lifestyle, News and weather besides other things.

Google Searching
Google searching really helped me in doing my researches in an easier way. I did some explicit phrase, searched for a specific file type, found the definitions and the synonym of some words, calculate some numbers and finally did a compound research. It really benefited me as I didn’t know about these things before. I hope that our college provides new students with training programs on how to use Google searching techniques, so that it becomes easier for them to work on their projects.

Google Picasa
Google Picasa is great software that enables me to edit my photos, add text to them and create movies very easily in a short time. I found it much simpler than using Photoshop  The only thing I don’t like about Google Picasa is that when I edit my photo, the changes are saved on the original photo, so I lose my original one. That’s why; I copy a photo before editing it in Google Picasa to save my original photos. The most thing I like in Google Picasa is creating collages in different ways. I feel that Google Picasa gathers the features of both Photoshop and Dreamweaver.

Social Bookmarking (Delicious)
Delicious is a wonderful tool that enables me to manage and organize my bookmarks with tags and get access to them from any laptop or computer. The lovely thing about Delicious is that I can share my links with others. Creating stacks is another great feature provided by social Bookmarking (Delicious). I have created a stack that is related to my industry project course and share it with my group members. Finally, I can say that Social Bookmarking (Delicious) is a powerful tool that helps teams to share useful links and resources online instead of sending them by email.

Twitter
I don’t like to have an account on social websites. However, after the trainer showed us the way of using Twitter, I like it a lot and use it in a daily basis to post my tweets and view others’ tweets. This tool enables me to reach many people instantly and communicate with them. Additionally, I can use Twitter to do a research about different tweets using the search box. I will continue using Twitter since I believe that it is a great tool to keep in touch with others.

Facebook
I believe that Facebook is a wonderful tool that makes it easier for me to communicate with others. Before the training session, I thought that Facebook is all about posting photos but now I know that I can do more things with Facebook like creating profiles with photos, connecting with others through private or public messages besides posting videos and links. It is a nice tool but I prefer twitter more than Facebook.

Google Reader
When I use Google Reader, I discovered many benefits of it. It helps me in managing and sharing my feeds with others. I like the feature provided by Google Reader called "Browse for stuff" which allows me to subscribe to many things. With Google Reader, I can subscribe through specifying a research term. Although Google Reader is a useful tool, I don’t think that I am going to use it at all.

Google Calendar
I like Google calendar since it enables me to organize my appointments, manage my time and share my calendars with others. I love the feature provided by this tool which enables me to create multiple calendars and browse other interesting calendars such as “Islamic Holidays & Week Numbers”. Moreover, I find "Tasks feature" offered by Google calendar very beneficial since it enables me to list my tasks that I wish to complete each day.

Google Earth
I believe that Google Earth is a powerful tool that enables me to fly to many places around the world in seconds. I like Google Earth a lot since it shows me the location of different cities and places, the weather and the photos related to these places. The lovely thing I like is that Google Earth lists for me different hotels’ names near or in the same place that I typed in the search box. Since Google Earth provides me with all these information, I will use it to plan and manage my holidays abroad.

I want thank Mr. Tridib for his great Google assignment as I got the chance to explore new technology tools, which is easy, available and free to use over the globe.

My research on VAT (Value Added Tax) in UAE and its implementation study for Business Taxation Course

I did some research for the project of Business Taxation Course and I would like to share my own summary of the topic which is the VAT (Value Added Tax) in UAE and its implementation study.
Definition of VAT:
VAT is a tax on consumption rather than production and is calculated on the stages of production of a commodity or service to avoid repetition. Also it is a neutral tax, which is imposed not on the value of products at their final price, but on the value added at each stage of production.
There are no consumption taxes or VAT (Value Added Tax) in the UAE, but individual Emirates may charge levies on certain products such as liquor and cigarettes and on certain services such as those provided in the hospitality industry and this considered as indirect sales tax.Value added tax has slowly entry and implement on developing countries, and now is about to hit the GCC. Thus, the people feel worry for reaching and implementing VAT in the country,  especially in Dubai given the increasing cost of living that has suffered the emirate in recent years from these increasing.  So it is time to look the reality that a tax should be implemented and the VAT will be implementing within the coming two to three years so there is currently no sales tax and there is delay on the implementation of VAT Law in the UAE until mid-2013.  However, a last decision has to be taken through the federal authorities and recommended by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the UAE consider implementing such a system of VAT. This will be an essential decision for the country’s leader.  Therefore, the UAE has been studying to implement VAT about more than two years it must be well advanced in preparations to implement the VAT law. The UAE has to study the current economic conditions, the global downturn, falling oil prices and the advancing US dollar must support early implantation as inflationary pressures are decreasing.  Furthermore, a stable and diverse revenue source will assist public investment and expenditure essential for economic diversification. Thus, those activities will support to introduce VAT in the UAE.
